Next-to-leading order QCD predictions for W þ 3-jet distributions at hadron colliders We present next-to-leading order QCD predictions for a variety of distributions in W þ 3-jet production at both the Tevatron and the Large Hadron Collider. We include all subprocesses and incorporate the decay of the W boson into leptons. Our results are in excellent agreement with existing Tevatron data and provide the first quantitatively precise next-to-leading order predictions for the LHC. We include all terms in an expansion in the number of colors, confirming that the specific leading-color approximation used in our previous study is accurate to within 3%. The dependence of the cross section on renormalization and factorization scales is reduced significantly with respect to a leading-order calculation. We study different dynamical scale choices, and find that the total transverse energy is significantly better than choices used in previous phenomenological studies. We compute the one-loop matrix elements using on-shell methods, as numerically implemented in the BLACKHAT code. The remaining parts of the calculation, including generation of the real-emission contributions and integration over phase space, are handled by the SHERPA package.

Precise predictions for W+4-jet production at the large hadron collider.
We present the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD results for W+4-jet production at hadron colliders. This is the first hadron-collider process with five final-state objects to be computed at NLO. It represents an important background to many searches for new physics at the energy frontier. Total cross sections, as well as distributions in the jet transverse momenta, are provided for the initial L...
متن کاملSecond-order QCD corrections to jet production at hadron colliders: the all-gluon contribution.
We report the calculation of next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections in the purely gluonic channel to dijet production and related observables at hadron colliders. Our result represents the first next-to-next-to-leading order calculation of a massless jet observable at hadron colliders, and opens the path towards precision QCD phenomenology with the LHC.
متن کاملNLO QCD corrections to ZZ+jet production at hadron colliders
A fully differential calculation of the next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the production of Z-boson pairs in association with a hard jet at the Tevatron and LHC is presented. This process is an important background for Higgs particle and new physics searches at hadron colliders. We find sizable corrections for cross sections and differential distributions, particularly at the LHC. Residu...
متن کاملEvent shapes at hadron colliders
We present precision results for distributions in global event shapes that can be measured at hadron colliders within experimental limitations. These predictions are obtained by combining exact next-to-leading order (NLO) with the all-order resummation of large logarithms of soft and collinear origin. We then discuss how event-shape measurements can be used for the tuning of Monte Carlo event g...
متن کاملNext-to-leading order predictions for WW+jet production
In this work we report on a next-to-leading order calculation of WW + jet production at hadron colliders, with subsequent leptonic decays of the W -bosons included. The calculation of the one-loop contributions is performed using generalized unitarity methods in order to derive analytic expressions for the relevant amplitudes. These amplitudes have been implemented in the parton-level Monte Car...
